Midi Spindles

2 1/2" diameter whorl on a 9" shaft
Weight range: .7-1.4 oz, depending on the wood.

Our Midis™ are the most popular in size, and we make these in the widest range of beautiful and colorful woods. Spinners love Bocote, Zebrawood, Purpleheart, Bloodwood and Birds Eye Maple; others love rarer woods like Pink Ivory, Ebonies and Rosewoods. Some rare woods* are difficult and expensive to obtain, and may be higher in price.

We are experimenting with narrower height whorls to get lighter weights for denser woods (the Midi™ version of "Skinny Minis™").  Visit the searchable Bosworth Spindle Group at Flickr to see many of our Standard and Premium Midi™ woods.  Some rare and unusual woods are in limited supply; not all woods available at all times. Colors may vary by monitor; different boards have varying color intensities and grain.

Premium Midis™: On occasion, we use limited-availability woods as they strike Jonathan's fancy. These include Amboyna, Ambrosia Maple, Buckeye Burl, Boxwood, Cocobolo, Ebonies, Olivewood, Osage Orange, Pink Ivory, Rosewoods, Silver Wattle, Sumac, Thuya, Tulipwood and occasional burl woods in limited supply; not all woods available at all times. Finished Premium Midis™ are $70 each with a standard Birch shaft; $88-95 with a hand-turned shaft. We can suggest a wood to complement or contrast with the whorl of your choice.  Most Premium Midis™ are finished on a by-request basis, so we do not often have finished Premium spindles available outside of our annual fiber festivals.  Our former WishList is now permanently closed.  When available, occasional Premium spindles are announced on the JourneyWheel@yahoogroups.com list and in our Journey Wheel group on Ravelry.

Shipping costs will be added on our end. We ship around the world — please ask about delivery to your corner of the fiber universe. US Packages are sent via USPS Priority Mail; shipping for a 1-pound package is $5.55-7.00 with tracking; insurance at your request and cost.

International packages are sent by USPS 1st Class International (Charkhas & Journey Wheels sent by Priority or Express Mail with insurance), $9.15 to Canada for a 12 oz package; $15.40 to Europe, Asia and Australia.  A shipping estimate is always included with confirmation of your order.
